Two people were killed when bandits attacked Maibakko village in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The police were alerted and swiftly responded, repelling the attack and rescuing 13 kidnap victims.
According to police sources, the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, when heavily armed bandits stormed the village, firing indiscriminately and abducting residents.
At around 1:43 AM, the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call and quickly deployed operatives to the scene. A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the assailants to flee, which resulted in the rescue of 13 hostages.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq, spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed the incident, noting that sadly, two civilians lost their lives during the assault, and another victim was injured.
The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, while security forces continue efforts to track down the fleeing bandits.
