2025 Hajj: VP Shettima Directs NAHCON to Address Visa Challenges

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reassured Nigerians, particularly the Muslim community, that no intending pilgrim will be left behind for the 2025 Hajj and that the pilgrimage will proceed without issues.

Reports indicate that Shettima has instructed the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to take all necessary steps to ensure a smooth and seamless pilgrimage experience.

His spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, revealed that the directive came after a meeting between the Vice President and the management and board of NAHCON at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.

Shettima convened the meeting following reports of a potential issue with Saudi service provider Mashariq Al-Dhahabiah, which could result in visa denials for Nigerian pilgrims.

“We will not allow any Nigerian intending pilgrim to miss the 2025 Hajj. The pilgrimage will be seamless, and every challenge will be addressed promptly,” Shettima assured.

The Vice President stressed the importance of NAHCON ensuring the interests of Nigerian pilgrims, stating, “NAHCON must do whatever it takes to guarantee the full participation of our pilgrims without any hindrance. We must set the right standards, move in the right direction, and ensure a hitch-free Hajj.”

Addressing concerns about the contract dispute with the Saudi-based company, NAHCON Chairman Professor Saleh Usman reassured the public, saying, “There is no cause for alarm. No single registered pilgrim will be left behind.”

He further dismissed claims from the Forum of States Pilgrim Welfare Agencies that the contract issue could jeopardize the pilgrimage.
