NIS Arrests 376 Illegal Immigrants in Ogun for Fraudulent Activities

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 376 illegal immigrants involved in fraudulent activities across Ogun State.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the arrests were made during a joint operation by officers from the Ogun State Command and Zone A headquarters, targeting hideouts in the Lambe, Ajuwon, and Akute areas.

Speaking on the operation, Ogun State Comptroller Muhammed Akadri said the arrests were based on credible intelligence regarding the activities of the suspects.

“After profiling the suspects, we discovered that 334 are Cameroonian, 27 Ghanaian, 26 Beninese, and one Togolese. They consist of 251 males and 125 females, all between the ages of 25 and 30,” Akadri stated.

He further revealed that none of the arrested individuals possessed valid travel documents or residence permits and that they had entered Nigeria through unauthorized routes.

Following the operation, the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed that the necessary steps be taken to repatriate the individuals to their respective countries.
