A 21-year-old hairdresser, Jessie James, is receiving treatment for severe chemical burns after being attacked by two women in Trinidad and Tobago. The attackers allegedly doused her with acid over claims that she had been socializing with men they knew.
According to James’ aunt, Galia Noel, one of the women lured her niece to a location under the guise of a hair appointment. Upon arrival, James was confronted, accused, and had two cups of a steaming liquid thrown at her before the perpetrators fled.
James was rescued by two bystanders who rushed her to Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where she remains in recovery. Noel described the injuries as severe, affecting her niece’s face, lips, and eyes—leaving one eye with partial vision loss and the other completely impaired.
Expressing her heartbreak, Noel condemned the attack as a senseless act of violence against another woman. Police have taken a statement, and an investigation is ongoing.
