“I’m No Longer Part of the Olunloyo Family” – Kemi Olunloyo Speaks Out After Father’s Death, Calls Him a ‘Bad Father’
Kemi Olunloyo, daughter of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, has publicly distanced herself from the Olunloyo family following her father’s death on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
In a series of emotional social media posts, Kemi revealed she would not be accepting condolences and declared that she no longer considers herself a member of the family.
“I am NOT part of the Olunloyo family anymore,” she wrote on Facebook. “I told you in 2024 that I would never return to Nigeria, even if my parents died.”
She explained that her decision stemmed from years of emotional and physical abuse, claiming her father lived a double life — one as a respected intellectual and public figure, the other as an abusive and controlling family man.
“My father, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, was two different people. He destroyed our family unit. He tortured us emotionally and physically. He marketed me as his favorite child, but he used me — he took advantage of my positive energy for his own gain.”
Kemi also accused her father of being deeply involved in occult practices and revealed that she had confronted him on his 80th birthday. According to her, this prompted him to seek spiritual redemption through Pastor E.A. Adeboye.
“My father was heavily into ‘juju’ and occultism. After I called him out, he went to Pastor Adeboye and became born again.”
Despite the bitterness and trauma, Kemi shared that she had found a way to forgive her father — though the pain remains.
“I have forgiven my dad for everything he did. But the scars are still there. You don’t know what’s going on in my family, and I don’t know what’s going on in yours.”
She further traced the family’s disintegration to her father’s relationship with another woman, Ronke Sonaike, now known as Aderonke Omololu Olunloyo. According to Kemi, this relationship triggered a cascade of negative events, including alleged attempts to poison her mother.
“When Ronke came into the family, my father started all sorts of occult practices. It was too much, too painful. My mother was married to an intellectual who turned into a polygamist. She didn’t sign up for that.”
Kemi also expressed grief over the loss of her brother, Tayo, in 2021 at the age of 51, linking his untimely death to long-term effects of trauma and neglect.
“Tayo could have been a great mathematician. But they ruined his destiny. He was paralyzed for 43 years after suffering brain damage as a child and lived a life full of pain and struggle.”
In recounting her father’s final years, Kemi accused her stepmother of isolating him after a stroke in 2021, claiming that no one was allowed to speak with or visit him.
“Toward the end of Daddy’s life, Ronke cut off everyone’s access. Nobody could speak to him or visit. We were kept in the dark.”
Kemi Olunloyo’s public statement has sparked conversations around family dynamics, abuse, and the hidden struggles behind public figures. Her story is one of pain, survival, and a pursuit of personal truth.
