Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, is set to face trial from Thursday at the Lagos High Court over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe, in 2023.
According to court filings, Augusta was allegedly killed during an argument at Best’s apartment in Ajah, Lagos. The update was confirmed by Augusta’s mother, Sylvia Okonye, who shared the development on Instagram. She also recounted her long pursuit of justice, which involved tracking leads across Sierra Leone and Qatar after Best fled Nigeria. He was eventually extradited back to the country in April 2025.
The case first drew widespread public attention when Best allegedly confessed to the killing on social media before later retracting the statement. As trial proceedings commence, supporters of the victim’s family say they are hopeful that justice will finally be served.
Best remains in custody as the trial begins and was recently seen wearing the same yellow Go-Crazy football jersey that appeared in earlier circulated photographs.
