Four Gospel Artists Found Dead in Lagos Studio After Late-Night Session

Four gospel artists were found dead in a recording studio in Ajah, Lagos, following a late-night session linked to a virtual birthday praise event held on February 3.

The deceased have been identified as gospel artist Segun Praise, crew members Itunu Ogundele and Joseph Sanya, and blogger JoesMediaTv. The group reportedly attended the virtual event at the studio and decided to stay overnight after the session ended late.

According to the studio owner, Akintayo Akinbola, the bodies were discovered the following morning behind a locked door. He reported seeing blood around their noses, ears, and mouths, but noted that there were no visible signs of physical violence.

Police have launched an investigation, with early suspicions pointing to possible suffocation caused by generator fumes. The event organizer is currently in police custody as inquiries continue. Authorities have dismissed online rumors suggesting poisoning over a financial dispute, noting that such claims lack evidence and do not align with the circumstances, including the fact that all four individuals died.

As autopsy results are awaited, members of the gospel music community have expressed grief and are calling for clarity and justice over the tragic incident.
