Commuters Complain of Bus Shortage Again at Elepe BRT Stop in Lagos

Commuters using the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Lagos have once again raised concerns over bus shortages at the Elepe BRT stop in Ikorodu, just days after authorities promised improvements.

The issue resurfaced on Monday after content creator Ella confronted staff at the bus stop over the situation, noting that only one bus was available to serve a growing crowd of passengers.

The development comes shortly after her earlier viral video, posted on March 12, exposed long queues, inadequate buses, and alleged harassment of commuters at the location.

Following the backlash, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) reportedly responded by deploying between 15 and 25 additional buses to the route, removing the staff member involved in the earlier incident, and temporarily clearing the long queues.

However, commuters say the situation appears to have returned to normal, with only a single bus serving the busy route again.

In her latest video, Ella questioned whether the previous interventions were only temporary measures, as passengers struggled to board buses amid the large crowd.

The situation has triggered renewed reactions online, with many Lagos residents expressing frustration and calling for lasting solutions and accountability in the city’s public transport system.

Others also pointed to ongoing transportation challenges, including recent fare increases and the growing pressure on Lagos’ BRT network.
