“You Are Embarrassing Your Ancestry” – Producer Biodun Stephen Criticizes Gen Z for Lewd Content Online

Nigerian movie producer and director, Biodun Stephen, has criticized some young Nigerians for sharing explicit content online under the guise of “catching cruise.”

In a video shared online, the filmmaker expressed disappointment after watching a clip where three young Nigerian women asked each other provocative questions about intimate acts while appearing excited during the discussion.

According to Stephen, the women later dismissed the conversation by saying it was “just cruise,” suggesting they were only playing along to entertain followers and gain attention online.

Reacting to the trend, the filmmaker condemned the behavior, arguing that chasing clout and social media engagement should not come at the expense of personal dignity and future reputation.

“Shut up! What is ‘na cruise’? You are doing it for clout, for views, for likes. You are embarrassing your ancestry and damaging your future because the internet never forgets,” she said.

Stephen added that she has daughters and often reminds them about the consequences of posting inappropriate content online.

She further lamented what she described as the disappearance of shame in society, calling for a return to values that promote dignity and responsibility on social media.

Her remarks have since sparked conversations online about the growing trend of young people creating controversial content in pursuit of social media popularity.
