Dino Melaye has expanded his luxury car collection with a yellow Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which he affectionately named “Chiamaka.” The former senator shared a video of the high-performance electric supercar on social media, showcasing its striking design and advanced features.
The vehicle, produced by Xiaomi and launched in China last year, is a tri-motor electric model reportedly delivering up to 1,526 horsepower. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds and was introduced to the market at an estimated price of around $73,000.
Melaye, widely known for his collection of luxury brands including models from Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce, has drawn praise from electric vehicle enthusiasts who describe the SU7 Ultra as a game-changer in the global EV market, comparing it favorably with competitors such as Tesla and Porsche.
However, the announcement also triggered criticism from some observers, who questioned the source of his wealth amid ongoing economic challenges in Kogi State and urged greater focus on local development initiatives.
