Labour Rejects N935/Litre Petrol Price Hike, Demands Lower Rate

Labour and CSOs Reject N935/Litre Petrol Price Hike, Call for Further Reduction

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and several Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have voiced strong dissatisfaction with the recent reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to ₦935 per litre, labeling it insufficient.

This price adjustment, announced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in collaboration with MRS, comes after petrol prices had previously soared above ₦1,030 per litre in Lagos and its surrounding areas, and over ₦1,060 per litre in Abuja and northern states. Despite the reduction, labour unions and CSOs are calling for a more substantial decrease to ease the burden on Nigerians.
