At just 17 years old, Lamine Yamal has quickly become a key player for Barcelona, and now the young talent is set to secure a long-term deal with the club.
Barcelona fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as it looks like the prodigy will be staying at Camp Nou for the foreseeable future, continuing his rise with the Catalan giants.
Speaking at the Golden Boy Awards ceremony in Turin, agent Jorge Mendes confirmed that Lamine Yamal is set to renew his contract with Barcelona.
“Of course, he’s going to renew with Barcelona. Lamine is a Barcelona fan,” Mendes stated, putting an end to any speculation surrounding the youngster’s future at the club.
Currently sidelined with an ankle sprain, Lamine Yamal is expected to be out for three to four weeks, which means he will miss Barcelona’s upcoming clash with Atletico Madrid.
However, agent Jorge Mendes reassured fans about Yamal’s recovery, saying, “It’s something he will recover from, and he’ll be fine soon.”
Yamal’s current contract, which runs until 2026, was initially limited to three years due to his under-18 status. Once he turns 18 next summer, he is set to sign a six-year deal that will include an eye-watering €1 billion release clause—an agreement that has reportedly already been verbally finalized.
