The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for an investigation into the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) over the non-payment of the approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance for corps members.
NANS expressed concern that months after the Federal Government’s approval, the NYSC has yet to implement the new allowance.
National Vice President, Inter-Campus Affairs, Akinbodunse Sileola Felicia, stated that corps members were promised the new payment in February 2025 but only received ₦33,000.
She urged the Federal Government to probe the delay, emphasizing that withholding the approved allowance is unjust, especially as other government workers are already benefiting from the wage increase.
