A Nigerian man, Chukwuka Nweke, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Italy for the rape and murder of a 61-year-old woman, identified as Iris Setti, in the northeastern city of Rovereto, Trento.
According to reports from Italian news agency ANSA, Nweke, who is known for drug abuse, brutally attacked Setti in a public park. He was found guilty on multiple charges, including murder, robbery, and sexual violence, leading to his life sentence.
Eyewitnesses recounted that Nweke viciously assaulted the woman, throwing her to the ground and repeatedly striking her face and head with his fists and a blunt object. After the attack, he fled the scene but was later apprehended by police and taken into custody. Unfortunately, Setti succumbed to the severe injuries she sustained during the assault.
The motive behind Nweke’s attack remains unclear. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting the severity of the crime and the justice served by the Italian court.
