NiMet Predicts Three Days of Hazy Weather Conditions.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast hazy weather across the country from Friday to Sunday. In its weather outlook released on Thursday, February 13, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze in the North and North Central regions on Friday.

The agency also noted that thick dust haze, with visibility reduced to 1000m or less, is expected to affect parts of Zamfara, Kano, Katsina, Yobe, Kaduna, Borno, and Jigawa throughout the forecast period.

For the southern parts of Nigeria, NiMet anticipates cloudy skies with occasional sunshine and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, especially in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers states.

On Saturday, February 15, moderate dust haze is expected to persist in the Northern region throughout the day. The North Central region may experience slight dust haze in the morning, with conditions improving in the afternoon and evening. The southern region will likely see cloudy skies with some sunshine, along with thunderstorms forecast over Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Delta states. Slight dust haze is also expected over the North and North Central regions.

On Sunday, February 16, NiMet predicts cloudy skies with occasional sunshine, alongside isolated thunderstorms in Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom later in the day.

NiMet has advised the public to take necessary precautions due to suspended particles in the atmosphere, especially individuals with respiratory issues like asthma. The agency also urged airline operators to consult airport-specific weather reports from NiMet to ensure proper planning for their operations.
