The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a horrific accident involving a Dangote trailer that lost control and crashed into stationary vehicles near Nyanya Bridge on Wednesday. According to SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, the collision caused a massive inferno, engulfing 14 vehicles in flames.
While eyewitnesses reported over 10 fatalities, the police confirmed that six victims were pulled from the wreckage and pronounced dead at the hospital. Their remains have been moved to the Karu General Hospital Morgue.
Emergency responders, including police operatives, fire service personnel, and security agencies, worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and rescue trapped individuals. Normal traffic flow has since been restored.
Meanwhile, hospitals such as the National Hospital and Asokoro Hospital are reportedly overwhelmed with victims of the tragic incident. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident as the community mourns the lives lost.
