Panic in Zimbabwe as condom prices soar following halt of HIV funding by Trump.

Condom prices have reportedly skyrocketed in Zimbabwe following the halt of HIV funding to developing countries by U.S. President Donald Trump.

A survey conducted by iHarare reveals that the cheapest condom pack now costs $1.50, with others priced between $3.20 and $3.30.

Reports indicate that the surge in condom prices in Zimbabwe is a result of the suspension of USAID funding following an executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump.

USAID had previously supplied 98% of Zimbabwe’s condoms, both for sale and free distribution. Local brands like PSH’s Protector Plus, which operated on a cost-recovery basis, have been severely affected by the funding cut.

The rising prices present serious public health risks, especially in Zimbabwe’s ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS.
