Vice President Kashim Shettima told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that while he respects him, that won’t stop him from taking political jabs at him ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Shettima made the remark jokingly on Thursday, Feb. 6, while acknowledging dignitaries at a symposium in Abuja to commemorate the 60th birthday of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti State.
While recognizing Atiku as one of the dignitaries, Shettima recalled his role during the 2023 presidential election, referring to himself as an “adjunct provocateur” who took “hot shots” at Atiku, though he noted that Atiku had handled the criticisms calmly.
Shettima revealed that he usually calls Atiku “Baba” in private conversations but added that come 2027, Atiku should expect more shots from him.
The comment drew laughter from the audience, with Atiku himself smiling.
