Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has etched her name deeper into Nollywood history as her comedy-drama Oversabi Aunty officially surpassed the ₦1 billion box office milestone. Released on December 19, 2025, the film has grossed an impressive ₦1,017,201,953 across cinemas in West Africa.
The record-breaking success makes Oversabi Aunty the first Nollywood directorial debut to cross the ₦1 billion mark, placing it fourth on the list of the highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time. It trails only a select few blockbusters led by Funke Akindele.
Directed, produced, and headlined by Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, the film stars Mosun Filani and Femi Adebayo, delivering a humorous yet relatable take on family drama and the familiar chaos stirred by “oversabi” or judgmental aunties. Its blend of comedy, culture, and heartfelt storytelling has resonated strongly with audiences.
The film continues to draw large crowds in Nigerian cinemas, with international momentum building as UK screenings are already underway and releases planned for the United States and Canada. The milestone further underscores Nollywood’s expanding global influence and its growing ability to rival major film industries worldwide.
