A devastating incident occurred in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, as a building under construction on Oriwu Street collapsed, leading to multiple casualties.
The tragic collapse, which happened around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, left several individuals trapped beneath the rubble.
According to Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene.
So far, 14 people have been rescued and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
“Two bodies have been recovered,” Hundeyin confirmed, adding that security personnel remain on-site to maintain order as rescue operations continue.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the collapse, and investigations are ongoing.
