Asa Asika, manager of Afrobeats superstar Davido, has sparked online chatter after taking a subtle jab at Grammy-winning Wizkid.
Wizkid recently made headlines for reportedly surpassing ₦10 billion streams on Spotify, becoming the first African artiste to reach this milestone. The achievement earned him praise, with some fans even calling him the “New Fela.” However, the claim also drew criticism from Seun Kuti, leading to a heated social media exchange.
Amid all this, Asa Asika weighed in with an indirect shade on his Instagram Stories, seemingly aimed at the “Essence” star. He questioned the narrative of streaming dominance, implying that high streams don’t necessarily translate to touring success.
Asika shared a photo of American rapper J. Cole with the caption: “If the streams say you’re winni’, why your tours is losin’?”

For context, Wizkid’s last major tour followed his Made In Lagos deluxe album. He skipped touring for More Love, Less Ego, and his 2025 Morayo tour was also cancelled, lending weight to Asa Asika’s pointed question
